Stay Safe and Celebrate Responsibly this Summer
City of Rockingham 4 Dec 2023

To help the City and WAPF maintain a family-friendly atmosphere over the festive season community members are reminded that the City’s parks and foreshore reserves are alcohol-free areas unless permits and licenses are in place. During the summer, WAPF will also have a visible presence at all major events.

City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin said many residents would soon take advantage of the chance to relax and unwind at a number of the City’s events.

“To provide a safe and memorable experience for all attendees at our events, the City encourages community members to celebrate in a safe environment and reminds them that alcohol is not permitted in public spaces,” Mayor Hamblin said.

Community safety starts with you, and it’s important that people also take steps to ensure they are making it tougher for crooks by locking all doors and windows when possible. Removing valuables from vehicles, leaving them locked and secure is one simple step we can all take to help reduce the potential for stealing offences, particularly at beach and boat ramp car parks this summer.

“If you’re planning a getaway, then make sure to book a Holiday Watch through the City’s SmartWatch vehicle patrol service. You can also help make your City a safer and more connected place by getting involved in the City’s Neighbours Unite program.

“On behalf of the City I would like to wish our community and WAPF a safe and merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.”

Dan Clark, Acting Senior Sergeant/Officer in Charge Rockingham Police said “On behalf of the Western Australian Police Force (WAPF) and my staff at the RockinghamPolice Station I would like to thank the community for what has been a successful 2023 as we edge towards celebrating the impending arrival of 2024.

“Collectively, we all hope for a safe and enjoyable festive period with loved ones and I encourage members of our community to act safely and responsibly whilst doing so.

“The Rockingham Police Station serves the community 24 hours a day 7 days a week and this does not change throughout the festive period, as we strive to provide trusted and valued policing in unison with our partner agencies.

“During the upcoming season the method of contacting the Police remains unchanged. For Emergency matters please call 000 and Non – Emergency matters please call 123 444.”
