Stemming from council’s Economic Stimulus Framework, the 5th round of ‘Rise Up Central Highlands’ grant applications (Streams 1 to 3) are now open to local businesses until 18 February 2024.
‘The goal of this grant is to help local businesses undertake small projects that will improve our region’s streetscapes whilst increasing the businesses’ visibility and potential sales,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.
In previous rounds, one local business ‘Paint Away Café’ was approved for funding to purchase a new exterior sign. Another business, ‘Dingwall Funerals and Cremation Services’ received a grant for signage and extensive landscaping.
‘The grants can be used for something as small as a flower box or bench to something as big as a mural or landscaping.’ he continued.
‘It’s a great opportunity to spruce up your business and make it really stand out,’ he said.
There are three different grant streams and a rebate off development fees and charges that businesses can apply for:
Stream 1: Façade improvement – for streetside visual improvements (up to $2,000) Stream 2: Built heritage improvement – for restoration projects on buildings with historical significance (up to $10,000) Stream 3: Placemaking – for creating spaces where people can gather (up to $1,000) Stream 4: Development application fees and infrastructure charges (percentage of fees and charges)The fees and charges rebate is a continuation of council’s commitment to encourage new development that attracts new jobs and facilitates investment needed in our region by reducing up-front costs.
