Free Summer School Holiday Program
The Summer School Holiday Program is currently underway with children and their parents really enjoying the exciting and fun activities on offer.
The activities continue until the 24 January.
There have been over 20 free activities available this holiday, with a wide variety of activities for everyone from 6 to 18 years. There are still spots available for some of the final activities, but bookings are essential through the below Eventbrite link.

Australia Day Community Events
Yass Valley Australia Day events are being held on Friday, 26 January 2024 for the Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony in the morning, then Keeping Cool by the Pool in the afternoon.
We are pleased that the Australia Day Ambassador is paralympic gold medallist Tiffany Kane OAM. Tiffany has had an incredible career, including winning a gold medal and three bronze medals in swimming events at the Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games.
The Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony will commence at 7.30am with a Rotary and CWA free breakfast, with formal proceedings starting at 9.00am on Friday, 26 January at Riverbank Park in Yass.
The Keeping Cool by the Pool event will be held from 4pm on 26 January at the Yass Memorial Pool with thanks to Australia Day grant funding. This free community event will have something for the whole family, including an inflatable pool obstacle course, lawn games, food vans, H-Cee Band and DJ Basic.

Works Update:
Murrumbateman Recreation Ground Amenities Building Contractor has commenced construction works. Completion due March 2024. Wee Jasper Carpark Preliminary works have commenced onsite. Public exhibition closed on Monday 11 December 2023, submissions currently under review. Victoria Park Lighting Upgrade Contract has been awarded. Construction to commence in upcoming months (weather permitting). O’Connor Park Boat Ramp Replacement Existing boat ramp is currently closed to the public. RFQ closed on 8 December 2023, evaluation currently underway. Road Maintenance Updates: Back Creek Road Bridge Murray Constructions will be once again mobilising to site in February to undertake the construction of the Back Creek Bridge. These works will commence with the second stage of piling before the placement of the precast components! Weather dependent all works are expected to be completed by the end of May 2024. Back Creek Road Sealing - Stage 2 The tender for this last stage of works was released prior to Christmas and will close early February. Once submissions are assessed the recommendation will be taken to the February Council meeting with works expected to commence shortly thereafter. Jeir Creek Bridge Complete Civil have now returned to site after the Christmas break and are finalising the culvert works prior to commencing the gravelling for the construction of the road. Weather dependent the works should be finalised by the end of February 2024. Greenwood Road Bridge Replacements Council and consultants are finalising the last of the detailed design work in preparation for tender in the coming months. Sutton Road Rehabilitation Lentro have returned to site from the Christmas break and are now commencing with the stabilisation of the road pavement. This work requires additional traffic control measures so please ensure extra vigilance and care is taken over the next few days. Weather dependent this work is due for completion mid-2024. Woolgarlo Road Culvert – Storm Damage Repair Quotations have closed for the replacement of a damaged culvert on Woolgarlo Road from the 2022 storm events. Works will commence on site early 2024. Flood Warning System – Investigation & Design Councils’ consultants are will into the hydrological investigation and associated design works for the proposed integrated flood warning system for Yass Valley. This investigation work is scheduled to be completed mid-2024. Get Active NSW – Pedestrian & Cycling DesignCouncil have commenced design works for several proposed shared pathways and cycleways throughout the LGA. These are currently design only projects, however once completed Council will apply for grant funding for construction.
