Upper Hunter Shire Council is proud to announce significant progress in the MR358 Merriwa to Willow Tree Road project. We have successfully secured funding, signed the deed, and awarded the construction contract to Daracon Group. This advancement signifies a crucial step in enhancing our regional infrastructure.

Mayor Maurice Collison expressed his enthusiasm, "We're ready to roll out this project, thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of our Council staff. Their hard work has been instrumental in reaching this point. With the funding secured, the deed signed, and Daracon Group on board, we're set to transform this long-awaited project into a reality."

The MR358 project, expected to take approximately 19 months, will be a game-changer for the Upper Hunter region, offering improved connectivity, economic benefits, and enhanced community access.

Special appreciation is extended to the Federal Member for New England the Hon Barnaby Joyce MP and State Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell MP for their advocacy and commitment to this project. Their support has been invaluable in bringing this project to fruition.

"We also want to thank the Hon Catherine King MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development of Australia, for her commitment to regional Australia, along with The Hon. Jenny Aitchison MP, NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads. Their support exemplifies how collaboration across all tiers of government can significantly benefit our communities," said Mayor Collison. "Together, these partnerships underscore the importance of such projects to the broader community and the vital role they play in regional development."

Council acknowledges and thanks every team member who has contributed to making this project a success. We are excited to embark on this journey with Daracon Group and are committed to completing the MR358 project efficiently and effectively for the benefit of the Upper Hunter community and beyond.
