Town Advances Sustainability with Hybrid Fleets

In line with the community's focus on climate action outlined in the updated Strategic Community Plan 2023-33, the Town of Cambridge has procured 13 hybrid commuter vehicles, marking a significant step towards reducing our environmental impact and demonstrating our commitment to transitioning to more sustainable transport options.
The Green Fleet Transition Programme, initiated in 2021, aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by incorporating new technology. The recently procured Subaru Forester Hybrid vehicles, though delayed due to global supply shortages, underscore the Town's commitment to sustainability.
Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles will be strategically located at the Depot and Administration Centre, utilising renewable energy sources. The Town plans to replace its entire pool vehicle fleet, including parking vehicles, with fully electric models within the next decade.
