As 2023 draws to a close, Fremantle has something for everyone to celebrate New Year's Eve.
Whether you're looking for a relaxed vibe with the family, a DJ dancefest or the chance to ring in the new year on the hallowed turf of Fremantle Oval, Freo has it all.
Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said New Year's Eve is a wonderful way for the local community and visitors to celebrate the achievements of 2023 and look forward to what 2024 will bring.
"Freo is a great place to ring in the new year, with so many places to spend the evening in the countdown to midnight," Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
The City of Fremantle has approved three events being held at Council venues: Princess May Park in the CBD, Port Beach and Fremantle Oval.
Clancy's Fish Pub is hosting a family-friendly party, with free entry, that spills out into the new nature playground at Princess May Park. There is an early countdown at 8pm for mini revellers.
COAST on the white sands of Port Beach is the place to be for the 18+ crowd, with three stages and a festival of DJs on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
The Old Synagogue team is throwing their annual Gog Block Party, which is returning to Fremantle Oval. With a dodgeball arena, burlesque dancers and fire breathers, it's expected to attract thousands of 18+ partygoers, making it Fremantle's biggest New Year's Eve event.
Many of Fremantle's popular nightspots are hosting their own celebrations; try watching the sun set from the upstairs bar at Bathers Beach House, disco dancing at The Old Courthouse or dressing up in Carnivale theme at Sailing for Oranges.

If you'd rather avoid New Year's Eve altogether, then the 16th annual New Year's Day concert at the Fremantle Arts Centre may appeal, combining reggae, soul, funk, afro and world music beats.
While it is a time for celebration, the City of Fremantle is reminding everyone to drink responsibly and avoid anti-social behaviour.
"It's a special night, but remember, drinking in public is still an offence and subject to the normal rules. Why not head to one of the many licensed venues in Freo instead," Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
The City's community safety team will be working extended hours, along with an increased presence from the WA Police, to ensure that everyone can enjoy the New Year's Eve celebrations in a safe and secure environment.
The City's Parks team would like to remind those people celebrating at our beaches and in our parks to remember to dispose of or take their rubbish with them.
The best way to get to Fremantle is to take advantage of the free public transport from 24 December to 28 January, for SmartRider users.
"Don't drink and drive. Plan ahead, consult the Transperth app and take advantage of the extra train and bus services in the early hours of 2024 to get home safely.
"On behalf of the City of Fremantle I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy festive season," Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
