Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has this week (December 19, 2023) approved temporary extended opening hours for the Clifton Waste Management Facility.
TRC Water and Waste Committee portfolio leader Cr Nancy Sommerfield said the temporary extended hours are four hours each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, starting from Thursday, December 28, 2023.
“This means that the Clifton facility will be open every day as a temporary measure due to the Greenmount facility currently being closed,” Cr Sommerfield, pictured, said.
“Council is pleased to offer residents access to temporary extended opening hours at the Clifton facility to compensate for the temporary closure of the Greenmount Waste Management Facility.
“Council is upgrading the Greenmount site to a Tier 2 waste management facility, which will be similar in principle to the Kleinton Waste Management Facility, offering additional recycling opportunities to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill.
“This will be particularly helpful over the Christmas-New Year holiday break when many people use the time to clean up yards and properties.
“Council appreciates the cooperation of our contractor Ability Enterprises, whose staff will be rostered for the extra opening hours.”
Temporary opening hours for the Clifton Waste Management Facility, Logan Road (*new temporary opening times):
• Monday: 1pm to 5pm • *Tuesday: 1pm to 5pm • Wednesday: 8am to noon • *Thursday: 1pm to 5pm • Friday: 1pm to 5pm • Saturday: 10am to 3pm • Sunday: 10am to 3pm.
These hours will revert to normal hours when the Greenmount facility reopens.
Cr Sommerfield said kerbside collection services will continue as normal across the Christmas-New Year season.
“Please place bins on the footpath the night before to ensure you don’t miss the collection service. I will be popping some treats on top of my bin for the J. J .Richards staff who won’t be having Christmas lunch with their families.” Cr Sommerfield said.
“All waste facilities will be closed on Christmas day. Normal operating hours at waste facilities resume on Boxing Day.”
