Merry Christmas and wishing you a safe and happy New Year!

As another year draws to a close, I have been reflecting on the achievements that we have experienced in the Goyder Council region in 2023.

In doing this, I firstly want to make special mention of the many dedicated volunteers across the entire Council region. Your tireless work does not go unnoticed, you are an invaluable resource that makes the very essence of our community what it is, so a very big thank you to you. I hope that the festive season allows you to spend time with family and friends, and to relax and recharge after such a busy year.

The Goyder Region is also lucky to have many businesses who all contribute to our community, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who support this great community of ours in your own special way.

I really believe that this year, that the resilience and generosity of our local communities shone through and demonstrated that we can achieve great outcomes when we all work together.

I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for their care and diligent decision-making this year and the way they have worked together in an open, transparent, cooperative and informative way.

To the Chief Executive Officer, David Stevenson and all the Council staff, I would like to thank you for all  your hard work in 2023. For a very small Council team you get an amazing amount done!

I am very proud of the work we have done this year, and I am looking forward to building on this year’s achievements in 2024 and beyond. Communication has been a key priority for me this year and I have looked at ways to engage with the community as widely as possible. This will continue to be a priority for me in 2024 as being informed of your views and opinions will help shape Council’s thinking.

Christmas is a time of joy and giving, but this is not necessarily the case for everyone. So, just a reminder to take a moment during this festive season to consider those who may be experiencing hardship and for whom Christmas represents a stressful or challenging time.

Merry Christmas and wishing you a safe and happy New Year!
