Join council at one of 4 community events to celebrate Australia Day Awards recipients in Blackwater, Emerald, Springsure and Capella.
Enjoy BBQ breakfasts, thong and gumboot competitions and free youth activities while we celebrate the amazing people nominated for these awards.
Nominees from across the region will be celebrated for their achievements and the wonderful things they have contributed to their communities.
‘Australia Day Awards are about recognising and thanking people who make our communities a better place – by the work they do, the encouragement they offer or simply the passion they show,’ Mayor Hayes said.
Event details across the region are:
Central – (Emerald, Gindie, Comet and Gemfields) 4.45 pm Thursday 25 January 2024 at the Emerald Town Hall. The night will begin with an official Citizenship Ceremony. East – (Blackwater, Bluff, Bauhinia, Dingo and Duaringa) 8.00 am Friday 26 January 2024 at Blackwater Civic Centre. North – (Capella and Tieri) 8.00 am Friday 26 January 2024 at Capella Aquatic Centre.
