Set to become South West Sydney’s newest destination location, Metro Property Development’s (Metro) $50 million Bingara Gorge Country Club has received development approval from Wollondilly Shire Council.
The modern pavilions style venue, designed by award winning Sydney based design practice H&E architects will accommodate between 800 – 1000 people, comprising a family bistro and bar, large outdoor kids play area, beer garden, sports bar and multiple function spaces.
Nestled on a 7,280m² parcel of land adjacent to Bingara Gorge’s golf course in Wilton, the contemporary leisure and entertainment space will create more than 100 jobs during construction and over 100 permanent positions when completed.
Luke Hartman, Managing Director at Metro Property Development comments, “Bingara Gorge’s Country Club will become a new destination place in Sydney’s South West, located in a world-class residential estate. The tranquil bushland setting will make it an ideal new social amenity for residents to meet friends and neighbours whilst enjoying a culinary delight or cold beverage.
“H&E Architects has beautifully captured the rural feel of the estate in the modern pavilions style design. Bingara Gorge’s masterplan already boasts a range of modern recreational amenities including a Graham Marsh designed 18-hole golf course. The Country Club is an integral part of the masterplan with the north easterly location overlooking the 18th fairway.”
Wollondilly Mayor Matt Gould said, “I am looking forward to seeing this facility come to life for the enjoyment of the residents of Wilton, the wider Wollondilly community and visitors to our beautiful Shire.
“Not only will this project create important jobs within the Shire, but when it is complete I expect it to become an important place for members of this growing community to socialise and connect.”
“I’m also looking forward to the planned hotel in a future stage, which will be a great tourism asset and help drive Council’s push for more visitor accommodation across our gorgeous Shire,” he added.
Prominent hotelier Feros Group are the preferred operator to run the Country Club and will provide a superior dining and entertainment experience.
“We are incredibly excited about this fantastic opportunity within Bingara Gorge. This venue will set a new standard for locals and visitors to the area. The team has worked on this project for many years with a significant amount of designing and preparing the plans for the site. We will now be able to contribute to delivering this great community asset,” said Chris Feros, Chief Executive at Feros Group.
According to Chris Grinham, Director at H&E Architects, all pavilions are designed to allow for maximum engagement with the northern aspect, enabling visitors to escape into the idyllic green environment.
“The venue will sit comfortably in its semi-rural setting and complement the superb surroundings. A contemporary approach has been adopted with a vernacular style of architecture, one that is traditional in its building form with separate pavilions featuring gables, eaves and covered verandahs, overlaid with modern detailing.
“Timber cladding structures will give the entire leisure and dining experience warmth, while the use of natural materials will assist built form age gracefully and meld into the landscape. Spaces between the pavilions will support a variety of internal and external experiences that will assist guests to engage with the site in both a collective and intimate way. Stone fireplaces will anchor internal spaces.”
Earlier this year in June, Metro received development approval for Bingara Gorge’s new $40 million retail centre located at 30 Pembroke Parade and designed by architectural practice BN Group. It includes a 3,000 sqm supermarket, 13 specialty tenancies, a climate-controlled plaza along ground level, outdoor and indoor dining, public amenities and 200 parking spaces.
Bingara Gorge is a 450-hectare site that will comprise 1800 homes when completed in 2024. Over 1000 homes have already been completed with more than 2,500 residents now living in the community. Over 200 hectares of open spaces, a golf course, playgrounds, tennis courts, walk and cycle paths, leisure centre, retail shops, childcare and primary school complement the development.
Construction is expected to start on the Country Club mid-2024 with completion late 2025.
