The Australian Fire Danger Rating System has been in effect from September 1, and replaces the previous Fire Danger Index System. The AFDRS simplifies the danger ratings to four levels;

Moderate (Green): Plan and Prepare High (Yellow): Be Ready to Act Extreme (Orange): Take Action Now to Protect Life and Property Catastrophic (Red): For your Survival, Leave Bushfire Risk Areas

Along with the changes to the danger rating system, the Western Australian Fire Weather Districts have been reviewed.

The Shire of Bruce Rock has previously been in the Jilbadgie district, which after the review no longer exists. Going forward, the Shire of Bruce Rock is in the Lockwood district, along with the Shires of Kellerberrin, Merredin, Narembeen, Nungarin and Trayning.
