Looking for something to do this Australia Day long weekend? After the public holiday on 26 January, enjoy a day of celebration at the beautiful Rockingham Foreshore with a community event and fireworks display on Saturday 27 January.
There will be plenty of family-friendly entertainment, including fireworks at 8.30pm, a show-stopping performance by everyone's favourite blue heelers, Bluey and Bingo, and live music from Little Belle and 2023 Breakthrough Music Competition contenders.
There will also be carnival rides, roaming entertainment, face painting, children's activities, a sensory-friendly chill-out zone space with noise-cancelling headphones and a variety of food vendors. Please note that costs apply for the showbag stand and some carnival games.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said the event would be a great opportunity for the whole community to celebrate our nation.
“Come and join us at Churchill Park for one of our major Summer Series events,” Mayor Hamblin said.
"Come down early to secure yourself a picnic spot and we’ll cap off an afternoon of fun with a stunning fireworks display."
In addition to celebrations at the foreshore, the City will also host a citizenship ceremony on the morning of Saturday 27 January at the Gary Holland Community Centre, where the winners of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards for 2024 will be announced.
There are free public parking bays at the Rockingham Foreshore, although Rockingham Beach Road will be closed between Railway Terrace and Flinders Lane. Limited additional parking will also be available at the Village Green from 4.30pm until full, and at the Rockingham Museum car park. Additional bus services on route 555 will run every 15 minutes between 6pm and 9.30pm.
Visitors to this event are encouraged not to smoke, vape or drink alcohol.
