Calling for Nature Stewards in Hepburn Shire

Council is calling for interested local residents passionate about the environment and keen to learn more about nature to get involved in the Nature Stewards program.  

Mayor, Cr Brian Hood, said that the Nature Stewards program was a great way to put a passion for the environment into action in the local community. 

“This short educational course aims to foster a connection with nature and provide ways to get active for the protection of the environment,” he said.

Council is co-hosting the Nature Stewards program in partnership with Mitchell Shire Council, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and the Victorian National Parks Association.  The ten-week program commences in March.

“Participants will have the opportunity to discover more about their local environment, connect with others in the community and learn how to volunteer for nature as a citizen scientist, advocate for nature or become a nature guide,” said Cr Hood.

Dates: 16 March – 25 May 2024 (excluding Easter long weekend)

Duration: 10 weekly class sessions Saturday mornings 9.30am -12.30pm and four to six field sessions 1.30pm-4.30pm

Cost: Hepburn, Mitchell and Macedon residents $175 full fee; $45 Concession (health care card holder; full time student; pensioner)

Where: Autumn 2024 locations near Daylesford (Leonards Hill), Beveridge and Woodend.
