Beenleigh residents Mauricio and Edna Cassella and their five children would be lost without Logan Libraries.
They are regular borrowers and love being able to access reading materials and other resources for free.
Mr Cassella said his children, aged between four and 12-years-old, all loved reading and regularly attended library activities.
“It gives them access to information away from screens,” he said.
“You get what you want and if you have any questions you can ask the staff.”
Eight-year-old Rosalena said accessing the libraries had helped improve her reading skills.
Logan City Council is encouraging the community to embrace local libraries through its Open the gift of reading promotion.
Residents who download the Logan Libraries App by 8:00pm on Thursday, February 29 and become new members or are already a member have the chance to win one of two iPads.
The app – launched last year – offers free collections, services, activities and events via smartphones and tablets.
Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said the City of Logan’s nine libraries provided access to a world of free content and experiences.
“A wonderful world of curiosity, life-long learning and imagination is available through our libraries and online,” he said.
“Help is available with things such as homework, finding great reading material, navigating technology and writing winning resumes.
“We encourage everyone to become a member and this summer is the perfect time to head to your local library to discover some great content.”
Library membership benefits include:
Saving money and staying entertained with more than 680,000 items for all ages and interests to explore, read, watch or listen to.
