Metal in March brings workshops, competitions and events to celebrate metal art around the region

Posted on January 19, 2024

Wire and metal art enthusiasts are in for a shiny new take on Metal in March festivities this year.

Taking place throughout the month of March is a variety of metal-related workshops, activities and events across the region, including a competition, artist talks and live jazz in the park.

The flagship event, ‘Reuse, Recycle, RE-INVENT Metal Competition’ will facilitate a metal art competition for local artists, community groups and schools.

A collaboration between council’s arts & culture and resource recovery teams, this event will advocate sustainable art practices using metal while providing a public art display that strengthens the region’s art culture.

‘I love it when our departments come together to provide educational fun that everyone can get behind,’ said General Manager Communities John McDougall.

‘March will be a month of celebrating sustainable art, learning about metalwork techniques and changing the way we think about recyclable materials,’ he continued.
