Construction to rehabilitate Toowoomba Road at Pittsworth between Factory Street and the Gore Highway will start on Monday, January 29, 2024.
Toowoomba Regional Council Infrastructure Services Committee Chair Cr Carol Taylor said the upgrade will provide a safer and smoother journey for more than 2000 motorists who travel this section daily.
“The project will rehabilitate the existing road surface and provide necessary improvements to the pavement,” Cr Taylor said.
“Works will be undertaken from Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm, with some Saturday work as required.
“Traffic control and associated signage will be in place for the safety of all road users and work teams.
“The southbound lane of Toowoomba Road between Factory Street and the Gore Highway will be closed.
“Southbound traffic will be diverted along the Gore Highway and Vines Street for the duration of the works.
“Construction is expected to be completed by March 2024, weather permitting.
“Council thanks the Queensland Government for providing funding under the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme.”
Road users are encouraged to plan their routes, drive to the changed traffic conditions and follow all signage.
Cr Taylor said Council apologised for any inconvenience and thanked the community for their patience and co-operation during these works.
