Efforts to rejuvenate Kerang’s central business district will resume on Monday, 5 February.
As part of Stages 3 and 4 of the Kerang CBD Redevelopment, work will begin at the corner of Victoria and Wellington streets, Kerang outside the Kerang Sports and Entertainment Venue.
Fully funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the project aims to revive Kerang’s central business district, building on work undertaken within Victoria Square, Scoresby Street and Victoria Street.
“Residents and visitors to Kerang’s central business district are already benefiting from works completed along the central business district section of Victoria Street last year, thanks to improved paving and new street furniture,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
As part of the planned works, new paving will be laid outside the Kerang Sports and Entertainment Venue, with new outdoor seating spaces to be constructed.
Similar improvements will occur along Wellington Street between Nolan and Albert streets, Fitzroy Street between Scoresby and Wellington streets, and outside Walkers IGA in Victoria Street during the first half of 2024.
“Shoppers and business owners are advised that pedestrian access around work sites will be diverted whilst these improvements occur, however Council will endeavour to keep these disruptions to the shortest possible time period,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Council thanks shoppers and business owners for their understanding as these improvements occur.”
