Favourite events such as Kite Festival and Firefly Night Market will return as part of the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Program, which is delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government and endorsed by the Tarneit Revitalisation Board.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera, said last year’s Kite Festival was a resounding success and is a tradition celebrated in many different cultures.
“The Kite Festival will be held at Goddard St Reserve on Sunday 11 February 2024, it will be celebrated with cultural performances, kite-making and live entertainment, food and drinks will be available to be purchased on the day.”
“We’re excited to welcome back Firefly Night Market that features more than 70 market stalls from local makers and artisans, a full stage program of cultural performances, glowing light art installations, roving performers and scrumptious snacks.”
“There’s been a growing following for the Firefly Night Market, 13,000 people attended in 2022 and 18,000 in 2023 - we were pleased to be awarded the 2023 Australian Event Award, for the category of Australia’s Best Small Event for this marvellous community event.”
A new initiative, Penrose Place, a pop-up marketplace, and bookable event space is also expected to be popping up this year in Tarneit.
The Tarneit Revitalisation Program champions projects to create a Tarneit that is cherished by locals for its active public spaces, a vibrant civic heart and expanding business ecosystem.
