The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) has successfully secured grant funding from the Waste Authority for a Bin Tagging Education Program, to be run throughout Town of Bassendean in February and March 2024. The program is designed to educate residents on the best use of their FOGO, Recycling and General Waste kerbside bins.
Trained waste educators will be walking the streets, conducting a quick assessment of the contents of bins on the kerb. They will attach informative tags to the bin handles, offering tailored advice to households on proper waste disposal practices. This hands-on approach is designed to empower residents with knowledge about what items are suitable for each bin.
The program aims to reduce waste contamination, which reduces waste disposal costs and increases material recovery, providing real benefits for the community and environment.
