Community members are encouraged to get active and try a new sport when the City of Rockingham’s annual Get Active Sports Promotion Day returns to Churchill Park on the Rockingham Foreshore, on Sunday 11 February 2024.
This event gives visitors the chance to meet local sporting clubs, have a go at the different activities on offer and learn more about new sports they might like to play in the coming winter season.
Part of the City’s Summer Series of free entry, family-friendly events, the Sports Promotion Day will run from 9am – 11am and includes live music, an obstacle course, climbing wall and high ropes course.
Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged the community to get active and involved in this showcase of local sport:
Being active is key to establishing good health and well-being, preventing illnesses and enhancing mental health, and a great way to get active is to get involved in a sport.“This event is an important element of the City’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy which aims to create diverse sport and recreation opportunities that promote physical activity, social connection and sense of belonging,” Mayor Hamblin said.
