Moree Plains Shire Council is delighted to launch the RIC-O-CHET project (Recovery in Communities – Creative Healing Enabling Transformation), a project aimed at supporting communities that have been impacted by flooding events, through a series of free workshops and events.
These free events are being provided to allow communities across the Moree Plains Shire with the opportunity to connect, recover and prepare for future events.
“The RIC-O-CHET project is designed to assist and support our Shire residents to develop connected, sustainable, resilient, creative and inclusive communities”, explained General Manager, Kelvin Tytherleigh.
The first community recovery event to kick off the program will be Life Drawing with a Comedian. An unforgettable show that combines the traditional art of life drawing with the comedic element of live performance.
The event will feature comedian Sean Michaels acting as the host, guiding the audience through the various life drawing exercises and providing humorous commentary, while a second comedian, Ruven Govender, is the model for the audience to draw, posing in various positions and styles.
This free, unique and entertaining way to bring together the worlds of art and comedy, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved will be held at the following locations:
Pallamallawa Hall – 6pm, Wednesday 28 February 2024 Mungindi – 6pm, St Joseph’s School Hall, Thursday 29 February 2024 Garah Hall – 6pm, Friday 1 March 2024.
The event is accessible to adults of all ages and skill levels, from complete amateurs to professional art teachers. Everyone is encouraged to participate, and bad drawers are especially welcome!
A community recovery session will be held prior to the Life Drawing with a Comedian. This will be conducted in conjunction with the SES, providing the community the opportunity to share their experience with flooding, particularly regarding identifying the gaps so that we are better prepared for future flooding events.
These free Life Drawing with a Comedian events are BYO with a BBQ being provided. RSVP for catering to Sandy McNaughton, Community Recovery Officer, Moree Plains Shire Council on 0429 596 312 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
