Gannawarra Shire Council is currently advertising tenders to replace two bridges and construct a new structure connecting Apex Park Road to the popular Apex Park precinct at Reedy Lake.
The Apex Park Road bridge (pictured) has been closed since July 2023 after the bridge structure failed.
“Advertising the tender to replace the Apex Park Road bridge is a significant step in reconnecting residents and visitors to Apex Park and its popular barbecue facility and campsite, which are usually busy during summer,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Council has spent the past few years seeking funding to enable this key bridge to be repaired as it provides the only road access to Apex Park.”
The tender also includes replacing the Kervins Road bridge that spans Barr Creek west of Cohuna and the McLean Road bridge at Ninyeunook.
“The Apex Park Road, Kervins Road and McLean Road bridges are three of the more than 60 bridges that we maintain, and with some of these structures nearing the end of their life, it is important that we work to replace these structures to cater for existing farming operations and future generations,” Mr Rollinson said.
Tender submissions close at 6pm Wednesday, 14 February, which can be completed by visiting www.gsc.vic.gov.au/tenders
