FREE MICROCHIPPING FOR PETS
Residents can now get free microchipping for their pets in return for having them registered with the City of Ballarat for this year.
Microchipped pets mean they are more identifiable if they escape the property, reducing stress on pets and owners. Renewing your pet’s registration each year ensures all contact details are up to date and Animal Management Officers can return your animal to your home, with no need to impound your dog or cat.
Appointments for microchipping and registration are required and can be made via phone, 5334 2075 or by emailing your name and phone number to [email protected] and the staff will be in contact to make an appointment time.
Third rates instalment notices for 2023/24 are being distributed. If you pay your rates in quarterly instalments, you will receive your notice for the third instalment for the 2023/24 Financial Year in the mail or via email in the coming weeks.
The payment is due 28 February. There are several ways to pay your rates, however, you can beat the queue by paying online via the City of Ballarat’s website (eServices), direct debit, or with BPAY. You can also pay in-person at the Customer Service Centre, by mail or by Post Billpay.
For more information, visit the City of Ballarat website or call the Customer Service Centre on 5320 5500.
Your dog must be always kept on a lead, unless you are in an area clearly signed as “Designated Off Leash Area”.
Dogs can be exercised off a lead in many reserves and parks, but they must remain under control and be continually supervised and under “effective control”.
FOOTPATH CONSTRUCTION STRATEGY
The City of Ballarat is developing a Footpath Construction Strategy to guide how we prioritise and fund where new footpaths are built.
Once completed, the Footpath Construction Strategy will outline a framework that prioritises where new footpaths are needed most, where sealing of existing unsealed footpaths should take place and identifying missing links in our footpath network.
Due to the construction at the Bridge Mall redevelopment, Time Lane will be closed from 31 January 2024 until 14 February 2024, and Foundry Way from 14 February 28 February 2024. Alternative access will be via Coliseum Walk and Peel Street.
