Upper Hunter Shire Council is pleased to announce the successful adoption of significant agenda items during its February Ordinary Council meeting, marking a pivotal step towards enhancing the quality of services provided to the community and ensuring the highest standards of governance and infrastructure development.
Council has officially noted the integration of the Internal Audit Coordinator role with that of the Governance and Risk Advisor, a strategic move aimed at bolstering Council's commitment to robust risk management and internal audit functions. This decision follows comprehensive guidelines for risk management and internal audit in NSW Councils, set to take effect from 1 July 2024.
In a bid to further improve the Shire’s infrastructure, Council has approved the inclusion of three additional suppliers for electrical, mechanical, and concreting services under Tender 06/2023. This decision will ensure the provision of high-quality services for the period extending to 30 August 2024, with NOTUSE Pty Ltd, Briken Group Services, and OPMI Power joining the list of trusted suppliers. This expansion is part of Council's ongoing efforts to foster a competitive and transparent procurement process, ultimately benefitting the community through improved infrastructure projects.
A significant leap forward has been made with Council's acceptance of Tender No. 20/2023 from Xylem Water Solutions Pty Ltd for the Scone UV project. This project is a critical component of Council's dedication to public health, aiming to introduce a second disinfection system to improve the safety of drinking water in Scone, Aberdeen, and Murrurundi. The initiative, which includes the allocation of additional funds for essential equipment, highlights Council's responsive approach to the community's needs and adherence to Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
