Wyndham City has commenced a public notification period regarding the preferred names of the Regional Football Facility’s Reserve and Pavilion, which are located within the Wyndham Stadium Precinct in Tarneit.
The names Ironbark Fields for the Reserve and Ironbark Pavilion were supported at last night’s Council Meeting (27 February).
Ironbark Fields and Ironbark Pavilion earned the most votes (65.57 per cent) following recent community consultation, with ‘Ironbark’ referring to a eucalyptus tree native to Victoria.
Wyndham City’s Active City Portfolio holder, Councillor Peter Maynard, said feedback identified the preferred naming theme for both the Reserve and Pavilion as 'linking the name to a place’ as part of the first stage of consultation in 2023.
“The second stage of consultation undertaken from December 2023 to 18 February 2024 offered the community the proposed names of Davis (Davis Park and Davis Pavilion) or Ironbark (Ironbark Fields and Ironbark Pavilion),” he said.
“Following the strong support for Ironbark Fields for the Reserve and Ironbark Pavilion, we have now moved into a statutory public notification period where the community can provide feedback on the preferred names.”
Wyndham City will make a final decision on the names at the Council meeting on 23 April 2024.
The Wyndham Stadium Precinct covers 63 hectares and includes the Regional Football Facility, which following completed construction will feature state-of-the-art training facilities including three pitches, a two-storey pavilion and capacity for 5,000 spectators.
