Shape the future of a new public art piece in Lang Lang

Cardinia Shire Council is inviting the community to have their say on a new concept for a public art piece in Lang Lang.

From Monday 4 March, the community can provide their input in several areas of the project, including:

preferred art themes ideal location of the art piece, and  desired artform, such as sculpture or mural

After the initial consultation period, the feedback will be used to create an expression of interest brief to identify the most suitable artist or arts group to create and deliver the project.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jack Kowarzik encourages community members to have their say and help shape the artwork.

“We want to create a piece of art for Lang Lang that makes people feel connected, which is why I’d encourage as many people as possible to have their say and get the chance to inform this project,” Mayor Kowarzik said.

“We’re committed to listening to our community, which is why there will be many opportunities to take part in the consultation, including online or in person at a pop-up event.”

Westernport Ward Councillor Kaye Cameron said the community’s input on the project would help to reflect community wants and expectations.

“We understand how important this artwork will be for the Lang Lang community, which is why we’re proud to work with the community to develop and deliver a new piece of public art for Lang Lang,” Cr Cameron said.

“By listening to our residents and seeking feedback, we hope to create a piece of art that pays tribute to this wonderful township, and be something for the community to really be proud of.”

Community members can provide input and feedback in several ways:

Stage 1 feedback closes 11.59pm, Sunday 7 April 2024, with subsequent rounds of consultation to take place to inform future stages.
