Federation Council has received $1,396,532 as part of Phase 4 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program, a funding initiative launched by the Australian Government to support local councils in delivering priority road and community infrastructure projects.
When assessing projects nominated for the funding program, Council applied a strict assessment criteria to only endorse projects that supported upgrades and renewal, or delivered efficiency improvements, as opposed to building new projects.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Pat Bourke said this funding allocation will result in various roads and community projects in towns across the Federation Council Local Government to be completed.
“Funding has now been approved for 16 roads and community infrastructure projects,” he said.
“Council is delighted to receive $1,396,532 under this program and looks forward to delivering these important projects.”
Projects that have been approved under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program Phase 4 include:
Mulwala Depot Amenities Refurbishment, McCarthy Street: $20,000. Morundah Park Public Playground Renewal, Browley Street: $30,000. MacKnight Park BBQ and Shelter Upgrade, Anna Street Urana: $35,000. Oaklands Hall, Millthorpe Street and Morundah Recreation Reserve Hall Upgrade: $30,000. BBQ Shelter Upgrade - Lions Park South Corowa: $40,000. Oaklands and Urana Public Pool Solar Installation: $20,000. Victoria Park Urana Solar Installation: $20,000. Howlong Public Swimming Pool Perimeter Fence Replacement: $120,000. Federation Council Cemetery Signage Upgrade and Beam Repairs: $17,000. Pre-merger Signage Replacement Project: $40,000. MacKnight Park Public Toilet Block Replacement, Anna Street Urana: $200,000. Corowa Skate Park Parking and Pedestrian Access Upgrade: $190,000. Corowa Lawn Cemetery Expansion: $250,000. Lowe Square, Howlong Electrical Supply Upgrade: $110,000 Corowa Well Conservation and Interpretive Facility - Ball Park, Corowa: $335,000. Footpath Renew Program - Bayly Street, Mulwala: $54,532.Works on these projects are set to begin throughout 2024 and all projects are anticipated to be completed by the end of June 2025.
“Council would like to thank the Australian Government for funding these projects under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program, we are excited to see these projects come to light,” Mayor Bourke concluded.
