Located on McLennan Street, Mooroopna, the Memorial is an integral part of the Mooroopna community. Rocks were used to damage three Digi glass panels, one standard rose bush was snapped off in the garden and two light poles were destroyed by being kicked over.

A $320,000 upgrade to the Mooroopna War Memorial was completed less than four years ago.

Council’s Acting Manager Parks, Sport and Recreation, Steve Wilson, said Council were extremely disappointed by the vandalism.

“It is very frustrating to see this vandalism occur. This memorial is so important to not only the Mooroopna community, but the Greater Shepparton community as a whole,” he said.

“To damage memorial panels that honour the soldiers and servicewoman from the WWII, Vietnam and Korean Wars is bitterly disappointing. We urge anyone who witnessed the vandalism or has further information, to contact the police.”
