Mindarie Breakwater management works to secure the structure for the next 50 years are complete.

The upgrades strengthened and increased the size of the structure and included the installation of new car parking, drainage, footpaths, kerbs and vehicle safety barriers.

The project was supported by a $3.3 million contribution from the Federal Government’s Coastal and Estuarine Risk Mitigation Program.

Mayor Linda Aitken said this important upgrade would ensure that the structure remains safe and functional for many years to come.

“The Mindarie Breakwater provides safe, calm water conditions in the Mindarie marina, as well as protection for nearby infrastructure, including parking, roads, pedestrian pathways, residential properties and commercial businesses,” she said.
