The temporary Ballarat Library at Town Hall will close at 4pm on Sunday 10 March.

The Ballarat Library redevelopment is almost complete and is set to re-open around Easter.

Following the closure of the Ballarat Library at Town Hall, there will likely be a short period in which there are no City of Ballarat Library services available in Ballarat Central. The Sebastopol Library and Wendouree Library will remain open as usual.

For information about library services during this time, such as borrowing and returning books, see the ‘Re-opening the Central Ballarat Library’ page on the City of Ballarat website.

The City of Ballarat is striving to make access to sporting and recreation facilities as equitable as possible for all genders.

To lay the foundation to achieve this, a draft Fair Access Policy document has been created, which seeks to address known barriers experienced by women and girls in accessing and using community sports infrastructure.

The policy will be specific to the City of Ballarat and is a requirement under the State Government’s Fair Access Policy Roadmap. It is set to be developed in mid-2024.

Reconstruction works have recently commenced on Morgan Street, Sebastopol. Approximately 380 metres of Morgan Street, between Crown Street and Grant Street will be widened and raised to allow for more traffic and assist in water flow to the drainage basin and decreasing flooding events.

The road will be closed for approximately eight weeks, traffic management will be in place and access to residences and the Early Learning Centre remains. Thank you for your patience.

CFA BASE CAMP – VICTORIA PARK    The City of Ballarat is assisting Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) are currently hosting a base camp in Victoria Park.

There are road closures in and around the park to facilitate the traffic management needed for the camp. Please follow the roadside signage on site.

The City of Ballarat is continuing to work with the community and sporting organisations to coordinate any impacts.

Events planned to take place at Victora Park over the coming month are not expected to be impacted by the base camp's establishment.

The camp is providing much-needed facilities to firefighters who are continuing to work on fire management in the region, including showers, toilets, laundry, kitchen and accommodation.
