The Town of Cambridge has not accepted the APIL Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) lodged for the Floreat Activity Centre and has requested further information be provided to enable a full assessment of the PSP.
APIL, the owners of the Floreat Forum, submitted their PSP to the Town in February. Under the current regulations, the Town has 28 days to confirm that the PSP contains sufficient information and is in the required manner and form. The Town has advised APIL that additional information is required to meet the manner and form for the PSP.
Mayor Gary Mack confirmed, “This afternoon we have advised APIL and their consultants that we require additional information to be submitted to accept the Floreat Activity Centre Precinct Structure Plan for advertising. This additional information is needed for the Town’s Administration to conduct their assessment of the PSP and to allow it to be advertised – providing our community with the opportunity to give their feedback on the proposed plan. I would encourage our community members to submit their feedback and to come along to our own Floreat Visioning Open Day on 21 March so we can gather all views on this major area of development for the Town” he said.
Once the Town receives the requested additional information, a further reassessment will be undertaken. If the plan is accepted it will be advertised for public submissions. The Town’s assessment of the PSP will consider submissions received during the advertising period, as well as feedback received during the Town’s own community engagement and visioning workshops.
The Town of Cambridge Council will make a recommendation on whether to support the PSP to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The WAPC is the decision making authority and will consider the PSP. It will take into consideration the Town’s recommendation, submissions received during the advertising period and State and local planning frameworks.
The Town’s Floreat Forum Open Session is being held on Thursday 21 March from 3pm – 7pm at the Boulevard Centre, located under the Cambridge Library. The Open Session will present the community feedback and views gathered over four visioning workshops held in February and March.
