On March 8th, in celebration of International Women's Day, the Shire of Coolgardie, in conjunction with the Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre, hosted a special event in Kambalda that brought together a diverse range of voices and experiences.
The event featured notable guest speakers, including Jenny Morris OAM, a Dual Olympic Gold Medallist, whose achievements in sports inspire many. Alongside her, Ella Smith shared her courageous journey as a domestic violence survivor and her subsequent role as a Principal Policy Officer at the Department of Justice, advocating for change.
Anita Nathan, Director of Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer at the Shire of Coolgardie, also graced the event, providing insights into her own story, challenges, and leadership journey.
The event was attended by approximately 70 individual. It was an opportunity for the community to reflect on the progress made towards gender equality while recognising the challenges that still lie ahead.
The Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre continues to offer counselling services in Kambalda. This ongoing support underscores the importance of accessible mental and emotional well-being services for women in the community.
