Enjoy a trip through the pioneering days of the Australian wool industry at the Jondaryan Woolshed’s Easter family camping weekend on Saturday and Sunday March 30 and 31, 2024.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said Council was pleased to stage the event to offer families an Easter outing at the heritage-listed facility at Jondaryan.
“The two-day family event opens from 9.30am on Saturday (March 30) with a packed program extending across Easter Sunday,” Mayor McDonald said.
“The weekend at the Jondaryan Woolshed will bring the history of the Australian wool industry and aspects of early Australian farming practices to life at the largest and oldest operating woolshed of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
“The working museum highlights the stories and daily working tasks of our pioneers to visitors, many of whom have little direct connection to life on the land today.”
The program includes historical displays, sheep shearing and sheep dog trials, spinning and weaving, a bee keeping demonstration, a wood turning display, live music, family games and markets.”
Visitors will be treated to mini train rides with a movie screening from 6.30pm on Saturday in the Woolshed along with line dancing lessons.
Food and drinks will be available to purchase, including stew and damper or a barbecue at the Woolshed.
Mayor McDonald said the Jondaryan Woolshed was open for organised bookings during the year, including accommodation.
Entry ticket prices are $10 for adults and children over 15, $5 for children or $25 for families ($8 for concession). Entry to the venue is by EFTPOS only, with cash and EFTPOS payments available at sites inside the venue for food and drinks.
Limited accommodation is still available, including camping, caravan sites and a range of cabins.
Accommodation must be booked before the event. Please direct enquiries to 131 872 or 0417 374 536.
A Good Friday dinner will be hosted at the Woolshed from 5.30pm on March 29 and the damper hut will be open from 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and from 8.30am to 11.30am on Monday, April 1, 2024.
