Council has given delegated authority to the City of Fremantle CEO, Glen Dougall, to award and manage a contract with the preferred contractor for the construction of the South Beach change facility.
Council gave their approval on the proviso that an agreement is secured within budget; that any reduction to the building footprint is limited to less than 30 square metres and that quality is maintained where any materials are changed.
Details of the four tenders received are confidential at this point in the tender process.
Designs and tenders for landscaping works will be considered separately, with the aim of delivering these works when the construction of the changerooms is complete.
Council also asked the CEO to update the community with the final design and development timeline.
In addition, the City will keep the community informed with updates as the project progresses.
Subject to successful negotiations, works may commence in mid-2024 and finish by mid-2025.
