Wembley Golf Course has been honoured with the prestigious Metropolitan Golf Facility of the Year title at the Western Australian Golf Industry Awards on 22 March 2024.

Owned and operated by the Town of Cambridge, this recognition highlights Wembley Golf Course's exceptional performance across various domains, including membership growth, financial sustainability, clubhouse and course operations, community engagement, and overall participation.

Wembley has set the gold standard for public golf facilities in WA with a remarkable 20% increase in membership in 2023 and delivering more than 185,000 rounds of golf, 65,000 rounds of mini-golf, and 26 million balls hit on its driving range in the 2023 calendar year.

Mayor Gary Mack expressed his pride in the achievement, stating: “It is our collective aim to make Wembley Golf Course the best golfing experience in Australia”.

“More than 800,000 people visit the facility throughout the year, and I commend the staff for their outstanding efforts in making this possible. Every ratepayer benefits from the Wembley Golf Course, and we are committed to continually enhancing its value for the entire community,” he said.

In addition to the Metropolitan Golf Facility of the Year accolade, expert Wembley Golf Course coach Andrew Thomas won the 2023 WA PGA Coach of the Year (Game Development) award for his outstanding contributions to golf coaching.

The recent enhancements at Wembley, including the mini-golf course renovation and the introduction of Trackman Range technology at the 80-bay driving range without additional charges, have further enriched the experience for patrons, making it a standout destination for golf enthusiasts in WA.

The WA Golf Industry Awards night on 22 March, held at Crown Perth, celebrated the excellence and dedication of individuals and establishments in the golfing community. Alongside Wembley Golf Course, notable winners included Minjee Lee, Stephen Leaney, Joondalup Resort, and Karratha Country Club.
