Community groups and organisations seeking funding to support projects, programs, events and activities are encouraged to apply for assistance thanks to Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2024 Community Grants Program.
Applications for the popular program opened earlier today and will be accepted up to 4pm Wednesday, 1 May.
“For many years, community groups that support the Gannawarra’s residents have benefited from Council’s Community Grants Program, which provides funding to local events, facility improvements and projects that foster social connections,” Mayor Ross Stanton said.
“Following a review of the program, applications are open earlier than usual, which will enable community groups more time to plan and deliver on their projects. It also ensures that any decisions made on the allocation of the funding will not be impacted by the council caretaker period because of October’s local government elections.”
Community groups can apply for up to $5,000 for projects, programs, events and activities that meet the program’s essential criteria, align with the community vision outlined in the Growing Gannawarra – 2021-2025 Council Plan and must be delivered by 30 June 2025.
“It is strongly encouraged that interested applicants read the program guidelines to understand what is required for an application and if your project meets the requirements,” Mayor Stanton said.

“This page features guidelines on the program, a help sheet and a link to a video from a previous Community Grants Forum held online, which provides advice on how to craft an application, obtain supporting information such as letters of support and quotes, guidance on completing a budget and advice on what assessors may look for when it comes to a successful application,” Mayor Stanton said.
