During the month of March, Central Highlands Regional Council proudly showcased the unique talents of local metal artists and their creations across the region with the ‘Reuse, Recycle RE-INVENT Metal Art Competition’.
The competition is part of council’s Metal in March program which promotes the diversity of the Central Highlands’ thriving arts and culture sector by celebrating metal art in its various forms.
The celebration culminated in the ‘Reuse, Recycle RE-INVENT Metal Art Competition’ held on Saturday 23 March.
General Manager Communities, John McDougall commented on the competition.
‘This competition not only showcases the incredible talent we have in our region but also emphasises the importance of sustainability and creativity in art,’ Mr McDougall said.
‘We are thrilled to support our local artists and encourage the community to think differently about recycling and reuse,’ he continued.
The competition saw the participation of 9 artists, who entered a total of 21 artworks, each demonstrating innovative use of recycled metal materials.
The competition was divided into categories, with artists competing for prizes totalling up to $430. The categories included: most inventive, trash to treasure, youth prize, and people’s choice.
