Today marked a significant milestone for Paroo Shire Council as the elected Mayor and Councillors officially assumed their roles. Led by Paroo Shire Council CEO, Ms. Cassandra White, the Declarations of Office were conducted at the Civic and Community Enterprise Centre Boardroom, where the newly elected members took their oaths of office.
The Electoral Commission of Queensland oversaw the elections for the Mayor and Councillors for Paroo Shire Council on March 16, 2024, with the final results declared on March 28, 2024.
Our elected representatives excitedly affirmed their commitment to serving our community with integrity, passion, and diligence in accordance with the Local Government Act. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our Shire, where our Councillors will work tirelessly to address the needs and aspirations of our residents, businesses and visitors.
Mayor Suzette Beresford expressed gratitude to outgoing Councillors Patricia Jordan and James Clark for their dedicated service and extended a warm welcome to newly elected Councillors Corissa Jackson and Tomas King.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all candidates for their nominations. Your willingness to step forward and offer your service to the community is appreciated and valued. Your dedication to our Shire is evident, and we look forward to continuing working together to build a stronger, more vibrant Shire.
