‘Park Beach to Cafes’ Community Collaboration Project
Sorell Council 12 Apr 2024

The Southern Beaches holds a special place in the hearts of many in our community.

However, our community is growing quickly as is the numbers of visitors to our stunning beaches each year. This increased activity (particularly during hot days), is placing great strain on our local facilities, especially relating to parking and road safety.

Recently, Council staff, café owners, and a few community members met up and initiated a ‘Park Beach to Cafes Community Collaboration Project.’ While the primary goal is to enhance safety and accessibility for all users between the café locations, Payeena Reserve and Park Beach, this Project is about our community coming together to brainstorm and innovate ideas. We want YOUR voices and views to shape what’s needed to ensure this area is a safe, connected, and inclusive community hub.

To kick start the Project, we are inviting community to complete a quick 8 question survey to get a feel for what community wants to focus on.

This survey is just the start of many collaboration opportunities!

We’re also planning pop-up sessions at the two cafés, as well as community forums and workshops from now until the end of May 2024.  You can stay updated through the cafés, Council’s website, Facebook and Instagram pages and local community groups.

Image below shows the general radius of area of focus under the project, noting parking and streets may be adjusted based on community feedback.
