How to Adult Program
Yass Valley Council is proud to present this year’s How to Adult Program as part of NSW Youth Week!
Participants will learn how to drive, learn about taking care of their health, learn to cook and prepare for a financially fit future!
This is a two-day event and all participants will be required to attend both days.
Adulting isn’t as scary as it seems when you have a little help!

Bicycle Safety and Learn to Ride Session
Come join us in a Bicycle Safety and Learn to Ride Session these school holidays!
Session activities will include:
Is my bike safe to ride, fixing the bike to make it safe, Helmet wearing, safety, and fitting. What happens if you get caught without a helmet? Cycling clothing, Getting on the bike and getting started Pedalling technics and stopping safely, Cornering safely, Road signs to obey as a cyclist, Hand signals and avoiding hazards, Riding with a parent/supervisor until 10YO.When: Friday, 26 April Sessions: 9.30am - 11.30am, 12pm – 2pm and 2.30pm – 4.30pm Where: Yass Learn to Ride Centre

Development Control Plan
The Yass Valley Development Control Plan (DCP) will be on exhibition on our website for a period of 56 days until 28 April 2024.
Submissions on the DCP must be made in writing to Council and will be accepted until 5pm on Monday 29 April 2024.
The purpose of this Plan is to give effect to the aims and objectives of Yass Valley Local Environmental Plan 2013 and to guide and facilitate permissible development accordingly. This Plan outlines Council’s standards for new development and seeks to achieve the objectives of the land use zones as prescribed in Yass Valley Local Environmental Plan 2013.
Works Update:
Murrumbateman Recreation Ground Amenities Building Contractor has commenced construction works. Completion due May 2024. Wee Jasper Carpark Preliminary works have commenced onsite. RFQ closes 26 April 2024. Victoria Park Lighting Upgrade Contractor has commenced construction works. Completion due September 2024 O’Connor Park Boat Ramp Replacement Existing boat ramp is currently closed to the public. Construction to commence on 11 April 2024 (weather permitting). Victoria Park Skate Park Carpark remediation works to commence in the upcoming weeks.
Road Maintenance Updates:
Back Creek Road Bridge - Murray Constructions are onsite constructing the new dual lane concrete bridge, works are progressing well and weather dependent are expected to be completed by mid-2024. Back Creek Road Sealing - Stage 2 - The team from Lentro Earthworks are back on site and happy to see some familiar faces for stage 2 of the Back Creek Road upgrade. Works are progressing well and, weather dependent, all works are expected to be completed Spring 2024. Jeir Creek Bridge – Works are now completed on the long awaited Jeir Creek Bridge and have been very well received by the Murrumbateman community. Greenwood Road Bridge Replacements - Council are currently working behind the scenes ahead of the Murrumbateman Creek and Yass River Bridges replacement project. Sutton Road Rehabilitation – This segment of road has now been rehabilitated along with the Murrumbateman Road intersection, the team from Lentro Earthworks did a great job. Woolgarlo Road Culvert – Storm Damage Repair - The works are now completed on this culvert. Council are currently preparing detailed designs for numerous other storm damaged works, the next on the repair program will be some minor landslips and erosion works on Wee Jasper Road. Flood Warning System – Investigation & Design - Councils’ consultants are well into the hydrological investigation and associated design works for the proposed integrated flood warning system for Yass Valley. This investigation work is scheduled to be completed mid-2024. Get Active NSW – Pedestrian & Cycling Design - Council are well into the design program for several proposed shared pathways and cycleways throughout the LGA and are preparing to use these designs to apply for funding under the highly competitive Road Safety Program Grant. Yass and Bookham Main Street Masterplan – Council have commenced some design work as per the adopted masterplans, this should be competed by mid-2024.
