Wyndham City residents can check where and how they are using energy at home by using a ‘Home Energy and Water Efficiency Kit’ which will be available to be borrowed from libraries at the end of April.
The kits help identify causes of high electricity and water usage. They include energy meters to monitor electricity consumption, thermal imaging cameras to identify areas of heat loss and water-measurement devices to help reduce water usage.
Wyndham City’s Climate Futures and Environment portfolio holder Cr Robert Szatkowski invited residents to attend an online launch, which included a demonstration of how to use the kits.
“We’re committed to offering activities and opportunities for residents to learn more about ‘Green Living’,” Cr Szatkowski said.
“Our May Green Living theme is ‘Energy Smart Wyndham’ which coincides with the ‘My Home Energy and Water Efficiency Kit’ launch.”
“This initiative is supported by our Resilient Wyndham Strategy 2021- 2025, which aims to help our community lower greenhouse gas emissions and reach net zero by 2040.”
