Council services and road closures for Anzac Day

Cairns Regional Council advises of the following closures on Anzac Day, Thursday 25 April:

An after-hours emergency call centre will operate 24 hours a day via the normal customer service number 1300 69 22 47.

Non-urgent matters can be logged via Council’s website or through the free My Cairns app, which can be downloaded to mobile devices from Google Play and the App Store.

There will be no interruptions to kerbside waste and recycling collections and residents are reminded to have their bins kerbside by 6am.

Waste Transfer Stations (at Portsmith, Smithfield, Gordonvale and Babina) will operate as normal, open from 8.30am to 5.15pm.

Road closures

Events will be held across the Cairns region on Thursday 25 April to recognise the spirit of Anzac and remember those who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

The Esplanade commemorative services will be live-streamed from Council’s Facebook page and YouTube from 5.25am.

Babinda – 9.45am to 10.30am

School Street, from Church Street and Munro Street

Munro Street, from Knowles Street to Mill Street

Cairns – Various closures from 3am to midday

Cairns Esplanade roadway, from Minnie St to Florence St closed from 3am to 9am

Cairns Esplanade roadway, from Florence St to Aplin St closed from 3am to midday

Cairns Esplanade roadway, from Aplin St to Shields St closed from 3am to 10am

Cairns Esplanade roadway, from Shields St to Spence St closed from 3am to 8.30am

From 7am to 8am, there will be changed traffic conditions to accommodate the march affecting Pier Point Road, Shields Street, Aplin Street, Florence Street and Minnie Street.

Edge Hill – No road closures

Edmonton – 5am to 8am

Wolff Street from Fuller Park to Cattle Street

Cattle Street to Bruce Highway (Service Road)

Partial closure of Service Road.

Gordonvale – 9am to midday

Gordon Street, from Mills Street and Norman Street

Norman Street, from Gordon Street and Cannon Street

Cannon Street, from Norman Street and George Street

George Street, from Cannon Street and Sheppard Street

Stratford – 8am to 11.15am

Magazine Street, from Arnold Street to Rinks Close

Rinks Close, from Stratford Parade to Magazine Street

No access to Arnold Street from Captain Cook Highway (north and southbound).

No access to Stratford Connection Road railway crossing

Trinity Beach – 5am to 8am

Vasey Esplanade, from Trinity Beach Road to Possum Street.

Yorkeys Knob – No road closures
