Residents and sports enthusiasts in the Town of Cambridge have reason to celebrate as new floodlighting has been successfully installed at two prominent sporting locations.
Pat Goodridge Park in Jolimont and the City Beach Upper Oval lighting upgrades to 100 lux LED offer the community a range of recreational benefits.
The installations create opportunities for casual and seasonal hirers to use the facilities. Additionally, the lighting facilitates extended training and competition hours for junior and senior football teams. Moreover, junior cricket enthusiasts can now host Stage 1 fixtures under the floodlights.
This project has been made possible through collaborative efforts, with the Town securing grant funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Culture Industries. This funding encompasses all aspects of the project, from initial design and engineering to the supply and installation of the sports lighting system.
One of the paramount considerations in the installation process has been ensuring compliance with British Standards AS4282. Adhering to these standards minimises light spillage beyond the playing area, thereby mitigating disruptions for nearby residents. Furthermore, to uphold the Town's commitment to community wellbeing, the floodlights will automatically switch off at 9pm, aligning with local regulations.
The positive impact of these improvements is expected to be substantial, benefiting hundreds of users on a weekly basis. With the extended hours of operation and enhanced facilities, City Beach Upper Oval and Pat Goodridge Park are poised to become hubs of sporting activity within the Town.
The Pat Goodridge Park floodlighting towers are now operational, with the City Beach Upper Oval lights to be effective in the coming weeks.
