Wyndham City is taking the next steps to progress the naming of the Regional Football Facility’s reserve and pavilion, Ironbark Fields and Ironbark Pavilion in Tarneit.
Following a 30-day public notice period, the names will now be submitted to the Registrar of Geographic Names for consideration.
Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder, Peter Maynard, said the naming process for the site began in September 2023.
“We began community consultation calling for a naming theme and proposed names back in September, in keeping with our Geographic Naming Policy,” he said.
“We next took the proposed names to a community vote in December 2023 to February 2024 and following feedback entered a public notice period from February to March.”
“We’re now down the home stretch of the naming process, the names will be submitted to the Registrar of Geographic Names for consideration and if accepted we have two more steps – gazetting the names before officially registering them.”
“We’re looking forward to officially naming the Regional Football Facility, which is now in use with games played onsite.”
The Regional Football Facility features state-of-the-art training facilities including three pitches, a two-storey pavilion and capacity for 5,000 spectators. It is located on the 63 hectares dedicated to the Wyndham Stadium Precinct.
