Help Baw Baw Shire Council plan for the future of Trafalgar by having your say on the Trafalgar Structure Plan – a roadmap to guide the future land use and growth of the much-loved area.
Council is in the early stages of developing the Trafalgar Structure Plan and critical to this process is gaining input from the people who know the town the most and are aware of the current and emerging issues facing the area.
Consultation for the project is open until Sunday 19 May where you can engage both online and in-person. Two local drop-in sessions are being held to give residents and others familiar with the area a chance to meet with Council officers and Tract Consulting to share their insights. The details for these are below:

Session 1: 2.00pm - 4.00pm Session 2: 5.00pm - 7.00pmThe Plan aims to increase the overall liveability of Trafalgar while providing a clear framework to ensure future land use, services and infrastructure will accommodate moderate residential population growth and demographic changes, while preserving and enriching the qualities of this local town.
To achieve these aims, the Plan will address important considerations, including:
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said that the structure plan aims to build a resilient and thriving community in Trafalgar.
“I strongly encourage anyone who lives, works or has a strong affiliation with Trafalgar to jump online, or head down to one of our drop-in sessions to provide some much-valued feedback on what should be captured within this Plan, so we can ensure we’re appropriately planning for the future of Trafalgar” Cr McCabe said.
Following this community consultation phase, Council officers and Tract Consulting will consolidate the feedback and use it to develop a Draft Plan, which will then be presented back to the community for another round of feedback.
Cr McCabe added that this process is demonstrative of Council’s commitment to hearing the community’s voice and keeping it at the heart of decisions affecting towns, and other important places in the Shire.
“We know there are plenty of people out there who know the area back to front, and who would have some great ideas about how we can preserve Trafalgar’s history and uniqueness, while also planning for future growth – and we want to hear from you,” she said.
