'Lines of Lode' presents a series of new works that draw inspiration from the unique landscape, vibrant community, and rich history of Broken Hill. Through their innovative pieces, the three artists explore the profound connections between their art and the region.
Aimee Bradley's jewellery pieces intricately reflect Broken Hill's architectural and historical essence, exploring its industrial heritage and the community's deep connection.
Christine Collins incorporates mining-influenced materials like ore and metal sheets in her folded artworks, mirroring the geological formations of the Line of Lode and examining the nexus of industry, community, and nature.
Jenny Johnstone's artworks capture the arid landscapes surrounding Broken Hill, showcasing their stark beauty through meticulous fieldwork, emphasising scale, colour, and line quality.
The exhibition not only showcases personal reflections and responses by the artists to their experiences in the Broken Hill area but also invites viewers to contemplate the broader implications of place and identity in art.
