National Volunteers Week 20-26 May 2024

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers and volunteerism.

The theme for National Volunteer Week 2024 is ‘Something for Everyone’ in recognition of the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering.

The Sorell Municipality is home to many wonderful groups and individuals who freely give their time to help make a positive difference in our community. Whether it’s through a group, charity, service club, sporting club, or as an individual, there are hundreds and hundreds of selfless people in our community who volunteer.

National Volunteer Week provides the opportunity to reflect on the massive contribution made to our community through volunteers time, energy and personal resources. You are all the heart and soul of our community and dramatically add to the vibrancy and inclusiveness of our community.

To every volunteer who steps forward with a willing heart and open hands, thank you. Your commitment to lending a helping hand, whether it’s mentoring our youth, caring for the elderly, supporting those in need, or championing environmental causes, is truly awe-inspiring. You are the driving force behind countless initiatives that uplift, empower, and transform lives.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.

The Acting Mayor, Councillors and Staff of Sorell Council extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation.
