Works update – 9 May 2024
Kyogle Council News 9 May 2024

The new Hansen and Ryans Creek road bridges have opened to traffic. Work is continuing on the Yabbra Road bridge which is expected to  open next week.

Work has started on new bridges on Phelps Road and Bean Creek Road, while culverts are being replaced on Tunglebung Creek Road and Old Lawrence Road.

Five crews continue to work on the Clarence Way upgrade project between Bonalbo and Urbenville. This work includes the replacement of Cookson Bridge, near old Bonalbo, with a box culvert. Council has upgraded about 6km of the road so far.

Fixing local roads and flood damage crews are continuing construction work on Ettrick Road. Council is rehabilitating a 3.5km section of this road.

Work that Council is undertaking on behalf of TfNSW on the Mallanganee Range is expected to be completed in June.

Sadly, the wet weather has created more potholes on our roads and has limited Council’s ability to undertake repairs. Council will reassign resources to tackle the backlog when the weather clears and the puddles in the potholes dry out.

Repairs to the Gabal Road and Creegans Road landslips are progressing, with work on the Williams Road landslip completed recently. Council plans to start work soon on the Boorabee Creek Road landslip.  Council has so far repaired 59 of the 99 major landslips which occurred after the 2022 flood event.
