Toowoomba Regional Council is seeking public input this month on the new Toowoomba Region Economic Development Strategy 2024-2029.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald said the strategy would be a blueprint for enhancing the Region’s vibrancy, liveability and economic growth in coming decades.

“I encourage business, industry leaders and the broader community to provide input during the review of the existing strategy,” Mayor McDonald said.

“This key strategic document will build on the previous strategy and help guide the Region’s ongoing economic development and promotion to intending investors.

“The new strategy will position our Region as an internationally competitive, vibrant, diverse and inclusive economy that provides opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and investment that enhance the Region’s lifestyle and environment.

“Council’s work will ensure the strategy reflects the diverse needs of our entire Region, aligning with government agency priorities, the community and industry.

“Community feedback is a key part of the review. We are keen to work in partnership with business, industry, state partners, other peak community leaders and the community to identify how we can assist future growth and improve our enviable lifestyle for future generations.

“Through the consultation phase, Council is seeking to identify trends, challenges and opportunities to help shape the next version of the strategy.

“Our Region has undergone considerable change since the previous strategy was implemented, and it is vital to ensure future needs and priorities are addressed.”

Targeted focus groups will meet this month to gather feedback from business and industry leaders, with the community encouraged to provide feedback by visiting Council’s YourSay page (from May 13), https://yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au

The survey will be open from Monday, May 13 to Friday, May 24, 2024.
