Residents are being advised by Toowoomba Regional Council that access to Cooby Dam Spillway picnic area via Pipeline Road will be temporarily closed from mid-May for an expected eight weeks (weather permitting) to facilitate works on Cooby Dam Access Road to repair a landslip as a result of the 2022 flood events.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said residents are advised to plan ahead for their recreational activities, to ensure they are not disappointed.

A section of the Lake Cooby Lakeside walk will also be closed with signage in place to advise walkers of closure.

Access to Loveday Cove at Cooby Dam will not be impacted by the works.

“These works are an important part of our 2022 Flood Recovery Program, which includes the remediation of 12 landslips across the region.

“The works will include minor vegetation and weed clearing, stabilisation of earthen embankment with engineered soil nails, reconstruction of drainage and road pavement,  and the reinstatement of guardrail, signage, and line marking,” he said.

Assistance provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Council appreciates the community’s patience as these important remediation works are carried out.
